Creative Futures Cumbria – Spotlight Artist
I told the pupils I had berthed my pirate ship at Whitehaven, and it hadn’t been an easy drive in the Mini, because the steering wheel was so small in comparison to a ship’s wheel. The Year Two pupils were excellent at suspending their disbelief as I turned up in full pirate outfit, treasure and accent. I told them I’d…
C-Art 2014 is here!
C-Art is here! This year I have been lucky enough to have a piece of work in Rheged’s Pocket Exhibition. The exhibition is on until November 2nd. As well as my studio being open Thursdays through until Sundays 12 ’til 5pm, I will be running a workshop here at Milburn, on Oct 2nd on Experiential Drawing. Cost £40, hours 10-4pm.

An Unusual Commission
Possibly one of my most unusual commissions… Phone call at 8.45 am: “Alex, are you free this afternoon?” “Possibly?” “A lady has rung from a charity called UserVoice needing an artist for the afternoon at Rheged. She wants someone to record the meeting by sketching it”. “Yes!” “You will?” It sounded fascinating and it was. Despite the slightly stressful journey…

Calabash Cat
This week and last week I have been delivering workshops in schools in the Heart of Eden. The focus has been on working with the five to seven year olds, and I have resurrected a lovely little project my friend and I used to do when we worked together. It is using a rather beautiful children’s story byJames Rumford about a…
